1. Arroz Azafran / Saffron Rice

Some people say that these are the Cuban counterpart of the Shepherd’s pie. They’re simply stuffed, boiled potatoes. The stuffing is made from green pepper, onion, garlic and ground beef. It’s flavored with a number of spices such as salt, cumin and pepper together with tomato paste and vinegar.
Surely we can’t forget about the famous Cuban red beans. It’s a dish made from red kidney beans and rice with ham for a meaty taste. It’s a hearty soup made even tastier with oregano, cumin, ground pepper, tomato sauce, onion, red pepper and salt to taste.
Now just to add a kick on your menu, make a light and refreshing papaya mango salsa! Combine diced mangoes and papaya, red onion, minced garlic, cider vinegar, salt, black pepper, currants and cilantro leaves. This really goes well with pork. Yummy!
This Cuban / Latin sauce and grilled dishes are a match made in heaven! Create a puree of fresh Italian parsley, red wine vinegar, olive oil, fresh cilantro, garlic cloves, cumin, crushed red pepper and salt.
Who doesn’t love churros? These cinnamon flavored pastries are paired with a mouth-watering chocolate sauce. Who would say no? Definitely not us!
Chifles are simply fried plantains. Yes, they’re not sweet. In fact, these are fried in vegetable oil then drizzled with salt. However, they’re still considered desserts.

So this one’s a lighter than the other two above. To make this beverage, you can combine lime juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, grenadine and light rum. There goes your punch! Serve with ice cubes, of course!
